The battery drains quickly

Is the battery deteriorating?

A battery that has been used for a long period may have reduced battery endurance. Check the battery age in [Battery info] in the setup menu.

  • A value of “4” (l) indicates that the battery has reached the end of its charging life. Replace it with a new battery.
Is the camera using a Bluetooth (pairing) or Wi-Fi connection?

The battery drains quickly when using a Bluetooth (pairing) or Wi-Fi connection. End the connection when not in use to extend battery endurance.

  • For information on ending the connection via Bluetooth (pairing) or Wi-Fi, refer to the Reference Guide for your camera.
Is the built-in flash raised?
If your camera has a built-in flash, always lower it when not in use to save power. To lower the built-in flash, press it gently downward until the latch clicks into place.
Is the battery used under appropriate conditions?
  • Batteries in general exhibit a drop in capacity at low ambient temperatures, reducing battery endurance. We recommend keeping the battery and camera at room temperature before shooting and between shots.
  • The internal temperature of the battery or camera may rise in hot environments, preventing shooting from starting or causing it to end automatically. If the camera becomes too hot, turn the camera off and wait for its internal temperature to drop.
