The viewfinder or monitor does not turn on
- Is the monitor mode set to either [Viewfinder only] or [Monitor only]?
-
The monitor mode may be set to [Viewfinder only] or [Monitor only]. Press the monitor mode button to cycle between the viewfinder and monitor displays.
- Use the [Limit monitor mode selection] item in the setup menu to enable additional monitor modes if the desired options are not available when you press the monitor mode button.
- Is there foreign matter on the eye sensor?
- If the camera is set to automatically switch between the viewfinder and monitor displays with [Automatic display switch] or a similar monitor mode option, dust or other foreign matter on the eye sensor may cause the camera to mistakenly detect your eye as being near the viewfinder, preventing the monitor from turning on. If this occurs, clean the eye sensor with a blower or wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth.
- Is the rubber eyecup properly attached?
- If the camera is set to automatically switch between the viewfinder and monitor displays with [Automatic display switch] or a similar monitor mode option and the rubber eyecup is not properly attached, the camera will mistakenly detect your eye as being near the viewfinder, preventing the monitor from turning on. Make sure to attach the rubber eyecup to the camera viewfinder correctly.
