Autofocus cannot be used
- Is the lens correctly attached?
-
The CPU contacts of the camera and lens may fail to connect if the lens is not attached correctly, preventing communication between the two devices. Turn the camera off and reattach the lens.
- Refer to the Reference Guide for your camera for information on attaching and removing lenses.
- Is the camera in manual focus mode?
- To enable autofocus, select a focus mode other than manual focus.
- Is the lens focus-mode switch set to [A]?
- Selecting [A] with the lens focus-mode switch enables autofocus.
- Is half-press AF activation set to [Off]?
-
Selecting [Off] for half-press AF activation prevents the camera from focusing when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway.
- Select [On] for [Half-press AF activation] in Custom Setting “a,” and press the shutter-release button halfway or press the AF-ON button to activate autofocus.
- Are you using F mount lenses with FTZ II or FTZ mount adapters?
-
Although F mount NIKKOR lenses can be mounted on Z mount cameras using an FTZ II/FTZ mount adapter, some features including autofocus may not be available depending on the lens.
-
For more information on F mount lenses when used with the FTZ II/FTZ, see “Compatible F Mount Lenses” available from the Nikon Download Center.
