Focus does not lock when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway

Check the focus mode.

Pressing the shutter-release button halfway does not lock focus when AF-C is selected for focus mode or AF-A is selected and the camera is shooting using AF-C. Lock the focus by pressing the center of the sub-selector or the A button.
