Recorded video audio is low or hard to hear
- Is the microphone sensitivity set appropriately?
- Audio volume may be insufficient if the microphone sensitivity is set too low. Set [Microphone sensitivity] or [Audio input sensitivity] in the video recording menu to [Auto], or to [Manual] and use the sound level indicator or monitor the volume with headphones while adjusting.
- Are the external microphone's specifications compatible with the camera?
-
Using an external microphone with low sensitivity or high impedance may result in insufficient audio volume. Ensure that the third-party external microphone's specifications are compatible with the camera. The camera specifications for the external microphone are as follows.
- Stereo mini-pin jack (3.5 mm diameter)
- Plug-in power supported
- Applied voltage: 5 V or less
- Impedance: 2.2 kΩ
- Is wind noise reduction enabled?
-
Audio recorded outdoors may be marred by wind. Select [ON] for [Wind noise reduction] in the video recording menu when using the built-in microphone. Note that setting [Wind noise reduction] to [ON] has no effect when using a third-party external microphone. Configure the wind noise reduction settings using the controls on the external microphone that supports this feature.
- Wind noise can also be mitigated for external microphones by using a wind jammer or windscreen.
