Video recording is interrupted or playback is jerky

Are you using a compatible memory card?

If you use an SD memory card with a camera that supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards, the recording time per file may be short and video recording may be interrupted. Use SDHC or SDXC memory cards.

  • Select a smaller size for [Frame size/frame rate] in the video recording menu to increase the recording time per file.
Are the Speed Class and transfer rate of the memory card appropriate?

If you are using an SD card with a low UHS Speed Class, or an XQD card with a slow write transfer rate, video recording may be interrupted or video may not play back smoothly. Use an SD card with a UHS Speed Class, or an XQD card with a write transfer rate, that meets or exceeds the camera's recommended requirements.

  • For information on recommended memory cards, refer to the Reference Guide for your camera.
Check the maximum available length for videos.

The maximum length of a single video varies depending on the camera and firmware version. When the maximum length is reached, video recording ends. If the camera's internal temperature rises, video recording may end before reaching the maximum length or when there is still space available on the memory card.

  • For more information on the maximum length for videos, refer to the Reference Guide for your camera.
