Configure settings related to camera sounds (shutter sound, REC start/end sound, beeps).

Shutter sound

OptionDescription
[Shutter sound]Choose whether an electronic shutter sound is produced when the shutter is released. Selecting [OFF] disables the shutter-release sound.
[Volume]Adjust the volume of the shutter-release sound.
[Type]Select the shutter sound type.

REC start/end sound options

OptionDescription
[REC start/end sound]Choose whether the REC start/end sound is produced when starting and stopping video recording. Selecting [OFF] disables the REC start/end sound.
[Volume]Adjust the volume of the REC start/end sound.
[Pitch]Choose the pitch of the REC start/end sound from [High] and [Low].

Beep options

OptionDescription
[Beep]
  • If [On] is selected, beeps sound when:
    • the self-timer counts down,
    • interval-timer photography, time-lapse video recording, focus shift, or pixel shift ends,
    • the camera focuses in photo mode (note that this does not apply if AF-C is selected for focus mode or when AF-A is selected and you are shooting in AF-C, or [Release] is selected for Custom Setting a2 [AF-S priority selection]), or
    • touch controls are used.
  • Select [Off (touch controls only)] to disable the beep for touch controls while enabling it for other purposes.
  • Select [Off] to mute the beep speaker.
[Volume]Adjust the beep volume.
[Pitch]Choose the pitch of the beep from [High] and [Low].

Silent mode

Selecting [ON] for [Silent mode] in the setup menu disables the shutter sound, REC start/end sound, or beeps.

Caution: Camera sounds

If the shutter sound, REC start/end sound, or beeps overlap with each other, only one of them may sound.
