Selecting settings from menus

Press and hold the A button to view the menus.

  1. You can choose the menu displayed. The default is [MY MENU].
  • The menus can also be displayed by selecting [MENU] in the i menu.

Using the menus

You can navigate the menus using the multi selector.

1Press the multi selector up: Move cursor up
2Press the center of the multi selector: Select the highlighted item
3Press the multi selector right: Display sub-menu, select highlighted item, or move cursor right
4Press the multi selector down: Move cursor down
5Press the multi selector left: Cancel and return to previous menu, or move cursor left
  1. Highlight the icon for the current menu.
    Press the multi selector left to place the cursor in the menu-selection area.
  2. Select a menu.
    Press the multi selector up or down to select the desired menu.
  3. Position the cursor in the selected menu.
    Press the multi selector right to position the cursor in the selected menu.
  4. Highlight a menu item.
    Press the multi selector up or down to highlight a menu item.
  5. Display options.
    Press the multi selector right to display options for the selected menu item.
  6. Highlight an option.
    Press the multi selector up or down to highlight an option.
  7. Select the highlighted option.
    • Press the center of the multi selector to save changes and exit.
    • To exit without making a selection, press the A button.
    • To exit the menus and return to shooting mode, press the shutter-release/REC button halfway.

Grayed-out items

  • Some items and menu options may be unavailable depending on camera status. Unavailable items are displayed in gray.
  • In some cases, pressing the center of the multi selector when a grayed-out item is highlighted will display a message explaining why the item is unavailable.

ON/OFF only items

If the only options available for the current item are [ON] and [OFF], you can switch from [ON] to [OFF] or vice versa simply by pressing the center of the multi selector, pressing the multi selector right, or tapping the item in the display.

The d (help) icon

  • Where available, a description of the currently-selected item can be viewed by moving the zoom control toward .
  • Press the multi selector up or down to scroll.
  • Move the zoom control toward again to return to the menus.

Text entry

A keyboard is displayed when text entry is required, for example if you are called on to enter a file name or the like. Enter text as described below.

  • Enter characters at the current cursor position by highlighting them with the multi selector arrow keys and then pressing the center of the multi selector.
  • The cursor can be moved left or right in the text display area by rotating either of the command dials.
  • To cycle through the upper- and lower-case and symbol keyboards, highlight the keyboard selection icon and press the center of the multi selector. The keyboard selection icon may not be available in some cases.
  • If a character is entered when the text display area is full, the rightmost character will be deleted.
  • To delete the character under the cursor, tap [Delete] on the display.
  • To complete entry, move the zoom control toward +.
  • To exit without completing text entry, press the A button.
