USB Power Delivery

Choose whether the camera draws power from devices connected via the USB Power Delivery connector. USB power delivery allows the camera to be used while limiting the drain on the battery.

USB power delivery is available from:
- computers with built-in Type C USB ports (requires a UC‑E25 USB cable, available separately),
- optional EH‑7P charging AC adapters, and
- optional EH‑8P AC adapters (requires a UC‑E25 USB cable, available separately).
- Power will only be supplied to the camera when the battery is inserted.
USB power delivery is available when the cable is connected to the camera’s USB Power Delivery connector. The camera will not draw power from devices connected via the USB data connector.
A USB power delivery icon appears in the shooting display and the control panel when the camera is powered by an external source.
- Before using a computer to supply power to the camera, check that the computer is equipped with a Type C USB connector. Use an optional UC-E25 USB cable with Type C connectors at both ends to connect the camera to the computer.
- Depending on the model and product specifications, some computers will not supply current to power the camera.
“Power Delivery” Versus “Charging”
The supply of power for camera operations is referred to as “power delivery”, while the term “charging” is used when power is supplied only to charge the camera battery. The conditions under which the power supplied by external devices is used to power the camera or charge the battery are shown below.

Includes instances in which the power switch is in the “OFF” position but Bluetooth upload is in progress or the memory card access lamp is lit.
EN‑EL15c and EN‑EL15b batteries inserted in the camera will charge when the camera is connected to an optional EH‑7P charging AC adapter, EH‑8P AC adapter, or a computer (note that connections to computers or the EH‑8P require a UC‑E25 USB cable, available separately).
