The [Prioritize viewfinder] monitor mode (The Monitor Mode Button and the Eye Sensor) has been replaced by [Prioritize viewfinder (1)] and [Prioritize viewfinder (2)].

  • In [Prioritize viewfinder (1)] mode, the viewfinder turns on only when you look through it. This behavior is identical to that for [Prioritize viewfinder] in camera “C” firmware version 1.xx.

  • In [Prioritize viewfinder (2)] mode, the viewfinder will turn on both when you look through it and also for a few seconds after the camera is turned on, the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, or the AF‑ON button is pressed. This behavior is identical to that for [Prioritize viewfinder] in camera “C” firmware version 2.xx.

  • The [Prioritize viewfinder] option for [Limit monitor mode selection] in the setup menu has also been replaced by [Prioritize viewfinder (1)] and [Prioritize viewfinder (2)] options.
